Rockford artist Michael Callihan's work has been selected as one of the best in the exhibition.
"Spiritually, emotionally and aesthetically pure," is how gallery owner Roy Saper describes Callihan's dreamlike landscapes.
"Callihan is an outstanding artist and his paintings really connect with the visitors to this exhibition," Saper said. "We have sold dozens of his oil paintings because his imagery and painting technique simply connect with people. The canvases really reflect on the artist - pensive, thoughtful, reflective, emotive. They bring peace to these times, which seem so often fraught with turmoil, challenges and conflicts."
Callihan's pastoral oil paintings of Michigan landscapes, both real and imagined, are at the centerpiece of the exhibition that continues through February.
"Sitting in front of a Michael Callihan painting is a wonderful way to feel peace, harmony and joy," Saper said. "And what could be better for 2010?"
The exhibition is free to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 9 p.m. Thursday nights. More information may be found at www.sapergalleries.com. The gallery is located at 433 Albert Avenue, East Lansing.

Mike's work has steadily progressed over the past decade and a half that I've known him. I'm excited that his work is being recognized I highly recommend going out to Saper Galleries to see it.
