Kathy Berlin Reporter
The Wolverine World Wide Family YMCA is hosting a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Kent County on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Dogs, guinea pigs and other animals will be on hand to greet visitors. Face painting and carnival games will also be available for kids.
"As a non-profit organization, the Humane Society depends largely on donations from the community," said Toni Szczepanski, volunteer coordinator for the YMCA in Belmont. "At the YMCA we involve ourselves in our community as much as possible. Our community is made up of not only two legged citizens, but four legged as well.
"Our hope is to get as many donations as possible to help out the Humane Society."
Donations are appreciated. Suggested items include used or new towels, canned dog and cat food, clay cat litter, cotton balls, fabric softener sheets, hand sanitizer, liquid dish soap, liquid hand soap, pig ears and pens.
